Counselling for Gaslighting in North London and online

What is gaslighting?

Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse that can leave you feeling drained, confused and often feeling like a shadow of your former self. It is a common misconception that gaslighting only happens within romantic relationships; it can take place within friendships, families and workplaces, and have just as significant an effect. Often, those who have experienced (or are currently experiencing this) question and doubt themselves. You may think to yourself; Is it me?  Am I the problem? This often has a significant impact in how you see yourself and how you communicate with others.

How can counselling and psychotherapy help?

Counselling and psychotherapy can provide a safe space to support you process and understand this experience. Therapists should never tell you what to do, however they can guide you towards empowerment and provide you with tools to support you in finding a happier way of being. This may be in the form of supporting you to rebuild your self esteem.

What experience do you have working with gaslighting?

I have worked with many people who have experienced gaslighting as a therapist for both the NHS and in private practice. I have also completed a number of CPD's (continuing professional development) on the subject and it is a professional interest of mine.

I have a blog where I have discussed gaslighting in more detail, please feel free to take a look here.
